Second Global Christian Forum, Manado, Indonesia Oct 4-7

On Monday the 3rd of October I arrived in Manado, Indonesia to attend the second Global Christian Forum. I was representing students from the South Pacific who are part IFES (International Fellowship of Evangelical Students).

From the GCF website: "The Global Christian Forum is about bringing into conversation with one another Christians and churches from very different traditions who have little or never talked to each other. It is about building bridges where there are none, overcoming prejudices, creating and nurturing new relationships. We have become convinced that our churches and organizations could benefit greatly from a Forum where they could speak with one another face to face, pray for one another directly, learn from one another, and together gain insights into common problems that could help all to respond to them more effectively"

This years forum focussed on looking at the significance of major changes in Global Christianity under the theme "Life Together In Jesus Christ, Empowered by the Holy Spirit". The way the Forum operates and the different people it brings together make it a unique event and process which is arguably unprecedented event in the history of Christianity. Over the next few days I will be posting some reflections and stories from the conference and how it has impacted my thinking about the Church.
